This sweet little boy was so peaceful. I never quite realized until this session how relaxed and calm it makes me when I work with a newborn. I mean, I know I’ve always finished the session feeling relaxed, but never quite tuned into my surroundings while shooting and put the two together. It’s a mix of the warm air, the soothing white noise, the hum of my voice as I shush them to sleep, and their sweet sent that put me at ease. Sometimes I even find it a little hard to adjust to my extremely active kids after a newborn session, that’s how very relaxed it makes me.
Newborns are so care free and don’t have a single worry in the world. I wish we could hold onto this feeling of contentment as we grow and change, and some of us do, but it’s just not the same as a newborn.
When dad arrived to the session he already had his mind made up that he didn’t want to be in any images. Once I had mom and babe in that sweet snuggled up pose and captured a few images, I turned to dad and said “are you sure you don’t want to get in on just one?” and sure enough, he did =) I’m so happy that you agreed to this one dad, I hope you will cherish your family portrait for a lifetime.
