There are many different options when it comes to newborn sessions. Some options include in-studio posed, in-home lifestyle, outdoor, and even in-studio/at-home baby led posing.
What is baby led posing? It’s basically allowing the baby to lay comfortably in what ever position they may be, with very minor posing. This may sound like I simply lay the baby on his/her back and start shooting away, well not quite. It’s always, and I mean always, about the light. I ensure baby is in a well lit area, with the light falling just right across their face and body, and may tweak a hand placement here and there, but for the most part baby is naturally posed, curled up and within mommy or daddy’s arms.
It’s an area that I find myself being pulled towards lately! While I absolutely love posing babies, using wooden props and textured layers, lately I’m feeling more of a desire to capture the connection between the baby and their parents. I strive, always, to capture connections in all other sessions, so why am I not doing the same in my newborn work?
Well, this session I did a combination of both posing and baby led and I am 100% feeling so much more emotion in this session! I think this may be the new norm around here, and you know what that means…..time to build on my client wardrobe and add some long, textured, flowy dresses for Mom to wear while snuggling her brand new baby 🙂 Oh the excitement, I just love when change comes in small doses!!
What do you think? Is this change going to have more impact? Well you can’t answer that until you’ve taken a peek at this gorgeous baby’s session right. So go ahead, scroll on down, and when you get to the very bottom, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts, please and thank you!
