Focus | Burlington Newborn Photographer

The goal of every newborn I photograph is to capture the baby in the most appealing way.  The neutral tones, natural light, seamless backgrounds, textured furs, blankets, and props.  These elements allow the focus of my imagery to stay on the baby, and help show off that gorgeous, delicate newborn skin.

This beautiful baby boy most certainly is the focus of the images, and not only that, but he is also the focus of the family.  His big sister showed so much love and affection towards him during our time together.  Staying close by and offering kisses and calming hands, all the while turning my heart into a big old pile of mush.  I can just imagine how his doting parents feel when they see the connection that they’ve created with these two.

There was so much comfort, love, and affection on full display!  It left me feeling thankful, for many reasons, but mostly that I had the opportunity to work with this sweet family and have the pleasure of experiencing just a tad of what they experience on the daily!

So, I thank you Mom and Dad, for allowing me to work with you and document your darling new addition, but also for allowing me to have a peek into your world, to see the love that you share, and to photograph this amazing family that you’ve created!

I hope you love this peek of your precious family, and I look so very forward to sharing your full gallery with you soon!

Refreshed | Burlington Newborn Photographer

I kept it on the down low and quietly stepped away from work for a little over a month.  Some people noticed, others did not, but if you look at the date of my last blog post, it’s very evident that I’ve been MIA.

It wasn’t planned or intentional, however, I started making small mistakes, feeling a lack of inspiration, and just down right drained.  Being a creative and the owner of a small business, you can imagine that taking time off is not always easy.  Saying no to sessions, turning away clients, knowing that there will be no income if I’m not working, it was an internal battle, but one that I came to terms with easily once I started to feel rested and inspired again.

This break has allowed me to look inward and outward, refresh my love of this amazing craft, and get back into the swing of things in time for the busy Fall season, and let me tell you, I am refreshed, full of energy and ideas, and can not wait to get back into the regular shooting routing which I love so very, very much!

It’s a busy week ahead with plenty to share here on the blog.  My only hope is that I haven’t lost my audience, and that those that enjoyed my blog previously will continue to do so.

Thank you for being here, in the past, in the present, and in the future!

Boy Mom | Ancaster Newborn Photographer

Becoming a parent can truly transform how you see the world, no matter if you have a boy or a girl!  We birth our babies, we raise our babies, we teach them to be kind, caring, loving human beings and we do it all with the love in our own hearts and the lessons that we were raised on.

Being a boy Mom though, that takes a certain type of women.  One that is adventurous and energetic and doesn’t mind getting dirty from time to time.  Who am I kidding, having boys means that your dirty all the time, even after showering!  Because you see, boys are very busy little people, they like to jump off things, slide down things, climb up things and roll and tackle and leap and run, ALL THE TIME.  But guess what, boys are also incredibly compassionate, loving, affectionate little creatures.  When they get a bump or a bruise it’s usually Mom that they turn to.  When it’s time for bed and they want a snuggle, it’s typically Mom that they reach for.  And while yes, Dad’s also play a huge role in raising their boys, they also have a leg up because they’ve been there, they’ve done that, and they are on the same wave length.

This Mom always felt that she would be the Mom of all boys.  It was destined, written out in the stars and now it’s all very real.  Surrounded by boys she is one very happy Mamma!  I mean really, how could she not be with these three incredibly sweet boys!  The tenderness that she has taught them is so very evident in the way they interact with their new baby brother, and while my heart felt like it was going to burst from all the brotherly love in the studio last week, I can only imagine how her heart feels on a daily basis being surrounded by all these beautiful boys!

May the journey of being a boy Mom be a brilliant one, Ashley!

Photographing 4 month olds | Burlington Baby Photographer

It had been a long, long time since I had a 4 month old in the studio, I’m talking years!!

You may think that photographing a 4 month old is challenging, and you’d be right!  I find that 4 and 5 months can be the hardest sessions to capture as babies of this age don’t yet sit up on their own, are too long to fit in most of my props and tire very easily.  That last bit, about tiring easily, while I was aware of this going into the session I didn’t really anticipate this darling girl dozing off for a little snooze in the middle of her session, but when she did, I jumped at the opportunity to pull out my macro lens and capture all her sweet baby features.

What an incredibly beautiful baby girl she is!  Those ginormous eyes, so full of wonder, make her look so much like a doll, and that creamy flawless skin, I mean sheesh, she could be a model at the ripe of age of 4 months.

I loved absolutely everything about this session!  From the moment she arrived in the studio to the editing of her images, I’ve enjoyed all of it.  The subtle tones and the variety of awake and asleep have me so thrilled with how her gallery is shaping up!

I hope you love this little peek at your session, Mom and Dad!  I look so forward to putting all the finishing touches on your gallery and sharing it with you very, very soon!

Until then, enjoy this beautiful girl of yours!

Yearly | Oakville Family Photographer

How often do you have your family photographed?  Monthly, yearly, every other year, not at all?

For me it’s daily, but then again photography is my life, so I don’t really count 😉

I ask this question because I feel that family photography is so very important.  Not only are your children growing and changing so much throughout the year, but also, the idea of allowing your children to look back and see you all together, loving on each other, cuddling, sharing secrets, stealing a kiss.  These are things that we do on a daily basis with our kids, and while yes, I’m sure your children will remember that, it’s also so wonderful to allow them to see that love and connection.

I have the great pleasure of seeing this family every year, in the Spring when the flowers are in bloom, and while I usually capture them in the gorgeous evening light, we switched it up this year for an early morning session, and the light, it was just as heavenly!  Factor in these beautiful faces and complimentary outfits, and it is a session that I am absolutely swooning over!!

I just love how natural their interactions are, always!  And for that, I thank you Mom and Dad, for always being yourselves, for having and sharing so much affection with your beautiful children, and for allowing me to capture your family each and every year!

I hope you love your peek just as much as I do!
