To the brim | Oakville Family Photographer

This kid fills me to the absolute brim with happiness every time I see him! I cried at least twice during their session, from laughter, and the best part is, he’s not even trying to make me laugh, he’s just being his usual charismatic self. And the energy that comes from him, it’s so contagious!! Mom and Dad, I honestly don’t know how you keep up with this awesome kid of yours, but whatever you’re doing, just keep doing it!! He’s so wonderful to be around, as are the two of you! I just look so forward to seeing the three of you every year, knowing that I’m in for a good time and a boatload of joy!

I have absolutely loved watching him grow and change over the years, seeing his personality develop more and more each time, and documenting the joy that he brings to your life. It’s evident in every single session that we’ve done together, the smiles on your faces say it all!

I hope you love this peek of your session and all the love and laughter that we captured on this gorgeous Fall evening.

Baby Led Newborn Photography | Burlington Newborn Photographer

Baby led the way for the majority of this beautiful session. What an absolute delight it was to watch her stretch her body in many different shapes and forms, and simply just let the sleep come over her and allow her body to melt into the cutest of cozy poses.

It’s a different approach to my newborn photography, and one that came about for a variety of different reasons. The main reason I’m slowly making the switch to baby led posing is to allow more of a hands off approach. While I still love to pose a baby, and will continue to do so in smaller ways, it simply makes more sense to keep a little more distance between myself and my tiny little clients when possible. And plus also, what baby doesn’t want to be snuggled in their Mom and Dad’s arms while they snooze. It’s literally the most comfortable place for them to be!

With this new direction in mind, I added a selection of beautiful dresses for Mom to choose from for her newborn session. These dresses are meant to add texture and compliment the outfit that your baby will be wearing during the snuggle portion of your session.

Exciting changes, and ones that I hope my clients will love!

Mom and Dad, I hope you enjoy these images of your darling baby girl in her early days of life! Our morning together resulted in a feeling of contentment for me, in a big way. It was a pleasure to have the two of you in the studio again, along with your gorgeous new addition!!

Fall Family Sessions | Oakville Family Photographer

Just like that I’m in the madness that ensues every Fall season. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good kind of madness, but means very long hours and bulging eyes from being on the computer for so many hours. I’m not complaining, really I’m not, I thrive from this kind of schedule. It’s the weather forecasting part of the season that drives me bonkers! Have you seen the forecast over the next two weeks? Rain, rain, rain, and guess what, more rain, YIKES!!!! That leaves me with 8 sessions that I need to keep an eye on to ensure we all stay dry, happy and with beautiful imagery. Come on Mother Nature, work with me here would ya!!

Anyways, enough about the weather, that’s already got me on edge enough as it is, no need to dwell on something that I can’t change, right! Let’s move onto this gorgeous family. I was totally over the moon thrilled to hear from this Mamma earlier in the month. She was ready for more photography magic in her life, and she came to me 🙂 I can’t even tell you how happy I am when previous clients return. It means they like my work, they appreciate the attention to detail, and they trust in me to capture their memories. That’s a pretty big deal, to me at least!

I can’t thank you enough Mom and Dad, for selecting me to document your gorgeous family, and for being so fun and playful during our time together. I’m still in shock over how much your beautiful boys have grown over the years. Has no one found a recipe for slowing down time yet? Seriously though, you guys made me feel so happy and full of life and I hope these images do the exact same for you!

With much love and appreciation!

Fall Sessions | Burlington Family Photographer

This week my Fall family sessions begin and the excitement is spilling out of me! So much so that I had to take my daughter to one of my favourite spots, as I was itching to get out and start shooting this gorgeous season. Maybe next year I’ll start these sessions a little earlier, although, every year is so different in terms of when the foliage starts to turn to these brilliant shades of brown, orange, red and yellow.

We also tried something a little different and experimented with smoke bombs. To say we had fun would be a huge understatement! The thrill is written all over this little (okay, maybe not so little anymore) lady’s face. I should give anyone who’s planning on using these forewarning that yes, they can stain clothes, hands, even faces. Yup, that’s right, I had orange stain all across my forehead by the time we finished up. That too gave my beauty a good laugh!

While I don’t plan on using these fun smoke bombs during my family sessions, it was a fun way to get out there and create some beautiful images, of my darling girl, to remember this gorgeous season!

I’m looking so very forward to all the Fall sessions that will happen over the next few weeks. Be sure to check back here often as there will be plenty of Fall goodness to have a look through. And if you’d rather look at your own family images in this gorgeous field, give me a call, there are still a few available dates to have your family photographed during this beautiful season!

Newborn Posing vs. Baby Led Posing | Mississauga Newborn Photographer

There are many different options when it comes to newborn sessions. Some options include in-studio posed, in-home lifestyle, outdoor, and even in-studio/at-home baby led posing.

What is baby led posing? It’s basically allowing the baby to lay comfortably in what ever position they may be, with very minor posing. This may sound like I simply lay the baby on his/her back and start shooting away, well not quite. It’s always, and I mean always, about the light. I ensure baby is in a well lit area, with the light falling just right across their face and body, and may tweak a hand placement here and there, but for the most part baby is naturally posed, curled up and within mommy or daddy’s arms.

It’s an area that I find myself being pulled towards lately! While I absolutely love posing babies, using wooden props and textured layers, lately I’m feeling more of a desire to capture the connection between the baby and their parents. I strive, always, to capture connections in all other sessions, so why am I not doing the same in my newborn work?

Well, this session I did a combination of both posing and baby led and I am 100% feeling so much more emotion in this session! I think this may be the new norm around here, and you know what that means…..time to build on my client wardrobe and add some long, textured, flowy dresses for Mom to wear while snuggling her brand new baby 🙂 Oh the excitement, I just love when change comes in small doses!!

What do you think? Is this change going to have more impact? Well you can’t answer that until you’ve taken a peek at this gorgeous baby’s session right. So go ahead, scroll on down, and when you get to the very bottom, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts, please and thank you!
