It was the heaviest snowfall we’ve had this year and we were right in the thick of it for our winter wonderland session. What a beauty of a scene the falling snow created!
You may be thinking….’but snow is wet, how did you stay dry?’ Well, with the help of a friend, we created this crazy contraption that included a backpack and a dome type umbrella. The contraption allowed the umbrella to stay over my head and camera, and keep me and my gear dry. The challenge came when I had to use one hand to lift up the umbrella (because you could see the edge of it in my viewfinder) and the other to compose and click the shutter. It certainly wasn’t easy but it was absolutely worth it!
It’s rare that I have clients that want to shoot in this type of weather. I get that, it’s cold, it’s wet, and the kids won’t last long in the outdoors, but maybe this session will change all that. Snowy, wintery scenes make for an absolutely beautiful backdrop if you ask me, and as for timing, I can work pretty darn fast when I need to 😉
What a pleasure it was for me to work with you again, Cathy! We’ve now captured your family in Spring and Winter. Next up, Fall and Summer? Ohhh the joys of the changing seasons, and the various beauty they offer!
I hope you love your peek!
